Sense and nonsense, not necessarily in that order, regarding bicycling in and around the city of Plano, Texas. Chronicling Plano’s progress as a Bicycle Friendly Community and contributing to the thought, actions and progress which improve the status quo. A Bicycle Friendly Community is defined by the League of American Bicyclists in terms of “The five ‘E’s”:
- Engineering
- Education
- Ecouragement
- Enforcement
- Evaluation & Planning
This blog focuses on these topics, in a positive, respectful, educational and I’m sure humorous manner. Initially, we are a newsletter and conduit of information with the goal to become a community of people who bicycle in Plano. This is about every cyclist and not focused on those who identify themselves as cyclists. Hopefully, Plano is to become a place where people hop on their bikes just as often as they hop into their cars and for the same reasons.
Im new to Plano and keep seeing bike route numbers on the roads around legacy. However when I try to locate them on a map or through Plano Gov website I cannot see start and finish points. Can you help ?
Thanks
William, I apologize for the delay but I’ve been out of town and just catching up. Here is a link to a high resolution pdf file that you can download from the City of Plano website: http://www.plano.gov/DocumentCenter/View/364
You can zoom in and get substantial detail.
You can also get printed maps from the city Parks and Recreation Department. I use both the pdf and the printed maps often.
William, I am even later than BFP! The routes are also on Google Maps. You have to turn on “bicycling” to see them, I think.
